We offer a very limited amount of clientele for these Mule Deer hunts, only 12-18 permits per year. This allows hunters to have a better chance of harvesting their trophy, Sheldoni Mule Deer. Sheldoni Mule deer hunting takes place on Tiburon Island, which offers a once-in-a-lifetime trophy hunting experience.
Some hunters may want to hire a packer for the hunt as the terrain can be challenging. We can assist you in hiring an expert packer prior to the hunt.
Hunting Sheldoni Mule Deer
Hunting Sheldoni Mule Deer on Tiburon Island is no easy task. Be prepared, as the island terrain is vast, and your hunting days will require backpacking and hiking since there are few roads. You can expect to backpack 2-5 miles into an area with no roads where you'll start the hunt and be glassing for the Mule Deer. A long-range rifle and a hunter capable of accurate shot placement are considered to be a huge asset. Shots of 400 yards or more are sometimes required. When you spot your big buck, your time can be limited. Sometimes, a brief window of opportunity can present itself, requiring the hunter to be prepared to shoot quickly.

Getting to Tiburon Island
All flights will need to be booked with Hermosillo, Mexico, as your final destination. Due to the laws pertaining to firearms in Mexico, hunters bringing their rifles will need to fly directly from Phoenix to Hermosillo with no connections anywhere in Mexico. Hermosillo is where your rifle permit will be located upon entry into the country. Upon your arrival, you will need to check your rifle; we handle all gun permits prior to your arrival, along with notifying Mexico customs of your necessary permits. Once you've cleared security, a DSO employee will meet with you; the time of arrival will determine whether you depart for camp immediately by crossing the Sea of Cortez from a village named Punta Chueca to Tiburon Island, which takes about 10-20 minutes or if you depart first thing the following morning.
