Hunting Trophy Sonora Mule Deer
Mule Deer hunting in Sonora is not an easy hunt; time on the hillside and driving the flats have proven to be the most successful methods of hunting big Mule Deer in Sonora. Most of your time will be spent glassing and high-racking. When you spot a large buck your time is limited, in some cases, a small window of opportunity will present itself requiring the hunter to be quick and ready for the shot. Being prepared to take a long, accurate shot and having a long-range rifle is considered an asset.
Sonora Mule Deer Hunting Expectations
Every hunter should expect a shot opportunity at a mature Mule Deer of 170"+ during their hunt with us. Rarely will you get opportunities to harvest a deer of 200" size anywhere in a free-ranging environment. 200" is overused with most Mule Deer hunters, that caliber of deer is difficult to find anywhere in the world. The all-time B&C is 190" for a reason.
Sonora Mule Deer Hunting Territory
Each year, we limit the number of hunters per season to ensure the area can withstand the hunts. This makes our territory a more quality hunting area and adds little pressure and big Mule Deer. Our territory consists of lush desert habitats of 250,000 acres located in the northwest portion of Sonora. We believe our territory is truly unique due to the mixture of hills and desert flats, giving us the advantage points of the terrain the Mule Deer calls their home. Proper land management and low pressure for the deer make for an exciting hunt!
Getting to Mexico for the Mule Deer Hunt
All flights will need to be booked with Hermosillo, Mexico, as your final destination. Due to the laws pertaining to firearms in Mexico, hunters bringing their rifles will need to fly directly from Phoenix to Hermosillo with no connections anywhere in Mexico. Hermosillo is where your rifle permit will be located upon entry into the country. Upon your arrival, you will need to check your rifle; we handle all gun permits prior to your arrival, along with notifying Mexico customs of your necessary permits. Once you've cleared security, a DSO employee will meet with you; the time of arrival will determine whether you depart for camp immediately or commence first thing the following morning.
